Wednesday, 11am EST, LIVE with Chet Hosmer, Cyber Security Guru and Kay Van Hoesen (or via Archives/Podcasts ~ iTunes)
A couple weeks ago I attended an eye-opening talk called “The Dark Side of Social Media” here in my hometown of Myrtle Beach, SC. They say knowledge is power, and if that’s the case, Facebook, LinkedIn and all the other social networks, with the data they’ve accumulated on us, can rule the world.
I’m still a little stunned that the presenter, the Chief Scientist for Cyber Security representing a huge international firm, is right here in our dinky tourist town of Myrtle Beach, and we lucked out because he’s coming into the studio to tell us the ins and outs of data collection and how we can protect our identities and confidential information. You’ll be amazed how easy it is for people to know your every move.
Chet Hosmer, is the Chief Scientist / Sr Vice President at Allen Corporation of America and was the Founder of WetStone Technologies, Inc. (Don’t worry – no boring science-talk on YAK.)
Chet has been researching and developing technology and training surrounding cyber security and digital investigation for over a decade. He has made numerous appearances to discuss the latest cyber threats including National Public Radio’s Kojo Nnamdi show, ABC’s Primetime Thursday, NHK Japan, Crime TechTV and ABC News Australia. He has also been a frequent contributor to technical and news stories relating to steganography and has been interviewed and quoted by IEEE, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Government Computer News, Salon.com and Wired Magazine (and he’s right here in Myrtle Beach!).
The phone lines will be open for Chet to answer YOUR cyber security questions. Chat-in or call-in.

thanks! Cyber security……security protects a persons civil right to privacy of course, no matter what …..even beyond cyber, yet I guess a breach of privacy could be the effect of cyber breaches of privacy laws….of course there are cyber laws in place that are abided by, just as laws are abided by in communities or any where especially by those responsible for making and applying them, right ? sounds interesting..thanks for having it. 😉
Thanks, Kate. Hope you can join us live and join the conversation. We’d love to hear from you via chat or phone. Appreciate your comments.
Hi Kate. Hi marks for Australia. I mentioned your comments to our cyber security scientist on air today. It seems Australia and Western Europe are ahead of the game. Thanks, mate! http://archives.zeusradio.com/here-women-talk/yak-kay-van-hoesen/yak-4-4-2012/
