Are You Toxic?

Are You Toxic? How you begin your day will dictate your day and it can all be related back to the question, Are You Toxic? Have you ever been in the room when a person walks in and you can just feel the energy in the room change…literally? Everyone become on edge, gets nervous, or just disappears and, all of the sudden, finds somewhere else to be?  Could this be because they are toxic? We hear about toxins in our foods and how they are in our body and that they affect our lives. I’m just learning about this type of toxins. What I really want to talk about is the personal toxins that you allow into your day. I have had toxic people in my life. They made me feel sad, depressed and sucked the life out of me. I would watch their number come up on my phone and think (sometimes out loud)….ugh! What do they want now? They just could not seem to find anything to be happy about. (I wonder if they have heard Pharrell Williams song yet?) A toxic person can sap you of your energy and spirit. I know that it isn’t easy to keep your positive attitude, when they are just so negative. A negative attitude can be even more contagious than a positive attitude. The negative attitude and mood of a...

Stop Chasing Squirrels – Stay Focused

Stop Chasing Squirrels – Stay Focused Do you see squirrels climbing around in the trees outside the windows, instead of paying attention to what you really should be doing – like checking off the things that are on your To Do List? It is cute to watch them jump from tree limb to tree limb and chase each other up and down the tree. It is easy to lose track and focus. Lots of times there are a million other things that I would rather be doing – other than the menial things that are part of my daily...

Who Do You Associate With? Are they Positive or Negative People?

Who Do You Associate With? Are they Positive or Negative People? Who do you associate with can be determined by your level of confidence and self-esteem. It can also be influenced by your attitude. After all, no one wants to associate with a negative person. I don’t want to spend time with a whiner or complainer! I learned a long time ago that you become like the person/people that you hang around the most. And, I remember, back in 2007, thinking that I had found some really positive, energetic and motivating people that would encourage and embrace my business...

Efficient Paper Management Systems

Efficient Paper Management Systems Take a peak at the efficiency of your file management system and determine if it is meeting your needs. Are you still spending too much time “looking” for paperwork? Having an efficient File Management System requires an system that you can work “in” and “with”   all year long. Paperwork is one of those necessary evils (like marketing for your business). I know…you can have all of your paperwork digitized, pay your bills online and become as paperless as possible. However, I don’t see how we will be totally paperless any time in the near future....

Staying Focused When Life Happens

Staying Focused When Life Happens Sometimes it is hard to constantly find yourself keeping focused when life happens. I could not believe what happened last week and almost let it freak me out. I learned an important lesson and thought I would share it with you! Feeling the stress of the upcoming Holidays is almost expected in today’s society. We are trying to do more, volunteer more, take on more and all without any additional time to get it done! And then, life throws a curve ball. My cell phone quit working. I’m talking just died, for no...

Taking Time to Rest and Reset

Taking Time to Rest and Reset I learned that it is important to take time to rest this weekend. I attended the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for Professional Organizers (MARCPO) in Bethesda, Maryland. I was an Exhibitor for MobilLogic. I knew that it would be a very, very long day. Bethesda is (at minimum) a 90 minute drive from my office. And, the event started at 7:00 am! So, I worked hard at having everything together the evening before, and avoid having to stay up all night preparing for the Conference. I decided to take time to rest on Friday...
