Bethany Christian Services Helps Women experiencing Unplanned Pregnancies

Many women who face an unplanned pregnancy just want the babies in their womb to disappear. With the pro-choice agenda pushing hard on abortion, unplanned pregnancy raises many questions with seemingly few options. But those who stand for life believe that every life is precious because we are all made in the image of God.

Although many women believe that allowing a child to live and be raised by someone else is the loving thing to do, many claim the adoption process is much too difficult. But that is just not true!

Bethany Christian Services (BCS), an international agency that serves children and families in need through adoption, foster care and pregnancy counseling, tells a different story. They have seen the amazing things that happen through adoption.

The pro-choice movement promotes the myth that organizations like Planned Parenthood offer options to the woman who is coping with an unplanned pregnancy, which has been dispelled by many investigations, and a lie. Through pregnancy testing and ultrasound as well as pregnancy counseling, Bethany Christian Services provide other services to those women who are abortion minded.

In a recent Here Women Talk radio interview, Mary Beth Bova, Virginia Branch Director of Bethany, shared what adoption is really about. (click HERE to listen)

She says that many couples deal with infertility and can’t have the family they always dreamed they could. These families offer real choice and partner in the fight against abortion.

Bethany Christian Services is helping to change the notion that you are “giving your baby up” when you choose adoption. Mary Beth says it is not giving a baby up for adoption, but rather, making a long term loving plan for their child. You have the choice of killing your baby, through abortion, or you can give the child life and a forever family. It is a life-giving option opposed to a life-ending one.

There will be grief, either way. Abortion carries tremendous guilt and psychological effects and adoption has the pain of loss. But when you can see that you are giving a child the opportunity to be all that they were created to be, most women recognize this as a loving choice.

Bethany Christian Services finds loving homes for all babies

The argument that these unwanted babies, if born, will be nothing more than a burden on society is simply not true. At Bethany Christian Services, Ms. Bova says that at any given time there are 50 prospective families on an active waiting list for children. All BCS families must be approved as adoptive parents.

Expectant moms and/or parents are invited to review family profiles and choose which family they would like their child to be placed in. There are two different types of adoption:  Open, which has several different layers, and closed. Services offered to assist in this process are post-adoption services, post-placement adjustments that identify and meet the needs of those children who are placed in their homes.

A great adoption attitude is revealed in an Ann Landers’ Column.

“Dear Ann Landers: It happened again today. My two sons and I were in a shopping mall, and a total stranger felt the need to comment on the fact that my boys didn’t look anything alike. Apparently, my 6-year-old decided it was time he explained the difference. “I’m adopted,” he said. “That’s when you have the same family but not the same face.”

Thank goodness this little boy’s mother chose life!
