“What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up Like a raisin in the sun?”

-Langston Hughes

How many times have you put your dream on ‘layaway’, waiting for the right time, more money, or someone else’s approval until so much time has elapsed…and now the thing you desired most has become but a faint memory. Does this mean you should give up and let it go? NO.

Life is full of its ebbs and flows and I’ve learned that there is no perfect situation to pursue anything. You just have to believe in the thing that is calling you so strongly and envision yourself living it. The longer you put it off the more difficult it is to keep it alive. So how do you keep your dream from drying up on the inside? Here are a few tips to liven your pursuit:

*Revisit the dream; remember how it made you feel- excited, energized, etc.

*Explore your reasons for wanting to pursue your dream. What is your intent? Is it to make more money, enrich the lives of others or does it enable you to live a more meaningful and purposeful life?

*Get busy…do your homework. Find out what resources you might need to move you forward.

*Share your dream with positive, trustworthy and like-minded people. Those who have your best interest at heart. Support will be your lifeline when times get tough.

*Build a collage of pictures, success stories, quotes that relate to your dream to reference when you need a boost.

*Hire a coach! An objective observer can help you gain fresh perspectives, navigate through the challenges and cheer you on to victory!

Most importantly, never, never, never give up on your dream. Get moving, because nothing comes to ‘sleepers but a dream’.
