The Squirrels and Colin Kaepernick

The Squirrels and Colin Kaepernick

The Squirrels and Colin Kaepernick We are a nation in dire need of a collective dose of Ritalin. Once again, I’ve tried to reason with people over a young man who, on the 26th of August, at the start of an NFL pre-season game, chose to quietly sit down and bow his head during the playing of the National Anthem. He didn’t make a big deal out of...

What Happens When the Truth Isn’t the Truth?

What Happens When the Truth Isn’t the Truth?

What Happens When the Truth Isn't the Truth? On a cold winter's day, holding a hot chocolate, I was leaving the library when I came across two elderly people in the parking lot.  I began to observe their responses toward one another.  Clearly they must have been in their eighties.  I observed the warmth and the love they had for one another, yet...

Rise of Domestic Violence Against Educated, Professional Women

Rise of Domestic Violence Against Educated, Professional Women There is a prevalent belief that women who face domestic violence or are exploited are from the lower rungs of society. This is just a myth. Women across society face domestic violence. When you look at a professionally successful woman who seems to be climbing up the professional...

If you plan on renting the DVD of “All Good Things,” …

If you plan on renting the DVD of "All Good Things," please read this first Kathie McCormack was a beautiful young woman. When I look at pictures of her, I remember an even prettier woman. I liked Kathie because she was not all about her looks and that helped because I was so insecure about mine. My three brothers had secret crushes on her. I...

You Won’t Believe this Guy’s Transformation

You won't believe this guy's transformation.  Never give up on yourself! Do you sometimes feel like quitting? Have people told you that you can't do something, and you buy into their words? Well, don't.  Never underestimate what you can accomplish when you believe in yourself. You may not be able to do it today. But someday you might.  Trust...

The Opinionated Bitch – on ‘What Are Women For’?

The Opinionated Bitch – on ‘What Are Women For’? My attention was drawn to an article sweeping across the ether entitled What Are Women For? by James Poulos in The Daily Caller. I ignored it until, while getting ready for work yesterday, I heard him defending the piece on “Up With Chris Hayes” and the conversation drew me into the room. Carefully...

Old Gals Dance BETTER Than The Stars

Old Gals Dance BETTER Than The Stars Some years ago, a video of an older woman dancing salsa with a young buck 40 years her junior circulated all over the internet. Rumors flew that she was Ginger Rogers dancing with her grandson (not true -- Ginger died in 1995). Turns out, she's a British woman named Sarah Jones better known as Paddy who lives...

Trapped in Her Body, Autistic Girl Suddenly Speaks

Trapped in Her Body, Autistic Girl Suddenly Speaks Are you actually using your voice? If there is one thing that the internet has an abundance of, it is uplifting or inspiring videos. Every day I see one of my friends post a YouTube link on Facebook that falls into that category. Whether they are poems and music with moving phrases or clips of...

I’m Not the Reason We Can’t Have Nice Things

I'm Not the Reason We Can't Have Nice Things Back in the 60’s, I was raised in what was considered a traditional American home. I had two parents who loved each other very much. Aside from the size of our brood, we pretty much looked like every other family we knew. I think a good deal of learning how to live in a civilized society actually came...
