“When life throws you a lemon….throw it back!” ~Pia Jessup

Live online Friday, 10am EST, Radio Therapist Ms. Hicks dishes with Pia Jessup.

How Jessup beat the odds.

From foster care — diagnosed with severe attachment disorder and a cognitive disability — through academic scholarships alone she’s earned a B.A., a B.S., and soon a Master’s of Divinity. The youngest woman appointed pastor in the Cape Fear Conference, she’s also the youngest female pastor in the 109-year history of AME Zion Church.

Making history has been a running theme in Pia’s life. On November 12, 2011, Pia was the first ordained minister to  win the title of Miss Black North Carolina since the pageant’s inception.

Pia proudly promotes her platform: D.I.V.A.S : Developing Intelligent Vibrant African American Sisters, emphasizing social graces, community involvement, scholastic achievement, spiritual empowerment, and healthy lifestyle among young African-American girls.
