If you read my travel updates and tips, you must have noticed a large gap since my last blog post. I have missed it and I apologize for keeping you waiting. “So what has been so important?” – you might ask. Well, it has been a great combination of many things. In order of occurrence, here is the news:
1. Planning! In just 8 days I will be leaving on my next trip with my husband, Dennis. The subject of this adventure will most likely be the topic of my next one or two blogs, since it is so important to us. We will be in Northern Ireland/ Ireland for two weeks photo-documenting the Belfast peace walls, interfaces, marching season, and the riots that sometimes erupt in these tense times. I cannot wait to tell you what it is about, and I will certainly share stories and pictures when we are home. Until I get a chance to write about it, there is a little information HERE.
2. I graduated! I have received my Bachelor of Arts in English. It feels very good to have hard work acknowledged. I never would have made it without the help of my amazing Dennis. Upon completion of my degree, we celebrated with a small party.
3. I was accepted! What better way to say “I’m done with school” than to continue on with school, right? After a few painstaking weeks I was accepted into the Master of Arts in Writing program, for which I start in August. Upon hearing this news, we celebrated with a small party. : )
4. Moving up! I have a new job! Shortly after graduation, I started work as the photographer, social media liaison, and marketing promoter for Kattatah.com. Not only is this a great job, doing what I enjoy, but the company has also been very flexible with planning around school schedules and travel plans. Hooray! I can actually afford to pay off those student loans! Upon acceptance of this job, we celebrated with a small party. : D
Of course, I wouldn’t be good at my job if I didn’t take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about it. Kattatah is an online store, specializing in home fragrance. There is no physical store, so I work out of an office in Little River now. Although a relatively new venture, we already offer our products at 20% below retail (at the least…. in some cases 70% below). I have yet to find anyone that offers such consistent sales/deals online, for the same items.
What do we sell? If you have ever heard of Lampe Berger, you know that it is a fragrance lamp that not only makes the air smell wonderful, but also cleans it. We also carry Easy Scent, which focuses on Aromatherapy/”Aromacology”. The fragrances for this diffuser come in two categories: Relaxing and Stimulating. I am relatively new to these concepts, but have already been won over. You can hear some stories about it on the Kattatah blog. Last but not least, I will be managing all of the social media websites, so if you want to chat with me about it, home décor, or anything on HereWomenTalk, or if you simply want some inspiration, you can find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!
Next! So that is what has been going on in my life recently. I have missed posting on HWT, but will get back into the swing of things now that my schedule is more predictable. Who knows, this new job might open some amazing new travel opportunities… like this Spanish pilgrimage I wrote about in March. There has been the idea of a “train across Europe” trip mulling around for the last couple months. Until then, I will have an update on Ireland very soon.
